Introduction

Education Quality Outcome Standards was established as a data framework for measuring and gauging the quality of non-degree credentials via outcomes. After its purchase by Jobs For the Future (JFF), and in partnership with Burning Glass Institute (BGI), the strategy shifted from a mere framework to operationalizing the data. Early product development concepts included an API designed for integration into HR, education, and/or research systems as well as a public data exploration app for workers and students.

I was hired with JFF, in part, to design and build these (and other) early product prototypes. Working in close collaboration with data scientists at BGI and a small UX design and development team within JFF, implementation saw early and rapid success. Despite this, the project was ultimately mothballed at a strategic level.

My Role

  • Led implementation team for web-based data explorer application.

  • Application architecture for consumer API and web-based data explorer.

  • Data modeling, transformation, and integrity checks for supplied research data.

  • Development of scalable infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IoC).
